Kaldoun Kingdom won relatively easily and the talking horse, Jonny Mudball, was just that, at least today, a talking horse.
As my previous post demonstrated, there was no difficulty in identifying Kaldoun Kingdom as the class/form horse and, as I commented, he was very close to meeting all the "winner in the race" required characteristics, just falling short on one. He points up the potential in the method, and when one finds a horse with everything KK had plus the other characteristic covered, they seldom if ever lose, especially when the prize is beyond doubt big enough to be targeted.
What I take from the race re Kaldoun Kingdom is that, unless the Official Handicapper slaughters him for this win, connections expect him to win a further big handicap. It will be interesting to see how he is placed: if only raised to say 102 he could go straight into another handicap, but if he is raised much above that he may need to run in some non handicaps to get him down to a winning mark again, perhaps by the Autumn. He certainly goes on the "horses to follow" list, will be seriously considered next time out off 102 or lower in a handicap or, better still, after some poor looking runs in races he can't win and when popped into something like the Ayr Gold Cup off about his current mark.
